Dear Parents,
It is with great pleasure that I am introducing myself as your P.E. teacher. My name is Jeffrey Brooks. I graduated from Central State University in Ohio and have a master’s degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona. I am very excited to be here at Imagine Andrew’s, and look forward in meeting and working with you and your child.                              In order for the physical education program to continue being successful, your child needs to be committed to following the safety rules, willing to participate, developing good sportsmanship, and have a positive attitude.

When parents and teachers work together it brings about success for their child. Parents have the primary responsibility in encouraging their children’s physical activity, positive attitudes and behaviors. It is vital for children to develop an interest in physical activity at a young age, since active children are more likely than inactive children to become active adults. Parents can model and encourage healthy behaviors at home by being positive role models, leading an active lifestyle, and making physical activity a fun part of the family’s daily routine. Parents can motivate children to engage in physical activity by allowing time for family activities (walks, playing active games, swimming, hiking, skating and participating in seasonal physical activities etc.) with their children or encouraging participation in community activities.
If your child, for any reason cannot participate in Physical Education activities please send a note. If a medical condition requires non-participation for more than three PE days please obtain a note from the medical provider stating when the student can return to physical education activities.
More information, such as the grading guidelines, discipline procedures and positive reinforcement is forthcoming in my News Flash Blob. If you have any questions please contact me by e-mail at jeffrey.brooks@pgcps.org.  I look forward to another active and fun years at Imagine Andrew!

Respectfully,
 Mr. J. Brooks
