March is National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. I am encouraging everyone to take time to enjoy food traditions and appreciate the pleasures, great flavors, and social experiences food can add to our lives. How, when, why and where we eat are just as important as what we eat. Develop a mindful eating pattern that includes nutritious and flavorful foods. Eat Right for Your Lifestyle
There's no one diet that is right for everyone, so it's important to follow a healthful eating plan that's packed with tasty foods, and that keeps your unique lifestyle in mind.

Be Active and Have Fun

Be active with your family each day. Here are some tips to fit physical activity into a busy week—and make it fun!

  • Find the best times to be active.
  • Start small.
  • Start with what you know.

If your family does not want to be active:
 • Tell them physical activity will help make their bodies strong and healthy.
• Lead by example. When they see you having fun, they will want to join in.
• Have children choose fun ways to get moving.

Tell them being
active will give them more energy. Ask them to try it for two or three weeks and see how they feel.
  Be Active!
